childhood buddies...

childhood buddy no. 1 weixiang goofing around with my red specs...
childhood buddy no. 2 botak trying it out too...
what the fuck?
botak trying his blue steel look but ends up looking angry instead..ha!
yeah, every man needs a tiger!
couple of drinks and we start taking photos of one another like self-involved girls..ha!
weixiang and botak (only we childhood friends call him botak..it's an inside joke that only we boys know..hehe..) got together with me for dinner at east coast, where we had succulent BBQ chicken wings and wanton mee from weixiang's favorite stall, washing it all down with some good ol' sugarcane juice. It was indeed fun to sit down with my friends, enjoying a meal by the beach, with a cool breeze brushing our backs while the sun sets down and retires for the evening.
My bunch of childhood friends is actually quite huge, as back in my younger days, my 'hood was swarmed with kids around the same age. My childhood friends led very different lives growing up (one is now running an IT firm, one is in Cornell doing his Masters, one just got out of jail after doing time, one is becoming a teacher while a few more will probably end up as loansharks/gambling addicts/druggies soon) We have all drifted apart over the years but nevertheless, we shared happy childhood times and memories together.
I'm probably closest to weixiang and botak, as we share very similar interests since forever (going for december chalets together, fantasy island water park trips, cycling to east coast to fish, soccer at the basketball court with the malay boys) Now that we are older, soccer and motorbikes have become our common passion. In fact, weixiang drove his car home after dinner to get his bike, and we 3 rode out together with the original intention of playing bowling at this shady shopping centre recommended by botak. Turns out, the place is indeed shady and the bowling alley was shut down already! Ha!
In the end, weixiang recommended us this spot called Blu Jaz, which is this quaint little corner at Haji Lane that turned out surprisingly nice. I immediately logged Blu Jaz in my head as a place where I will bring a date to listen to jazz and enjoy a quiet moment together. Desfinando and Corcovado were playing in the background while we enjoyed our beer and engaged in idle banter about all sorts of silly stuff. (Can, if you're reading this, i got that phrase from you. hehe..)
After riding on my friends' bikes today, i'm seriously considering to buy a big-ass motorbike after i get my class 2 license. Perhaps a red Suzuki Hayabusa like the one above (for those in the unknown, this is like the most powerful bike on earth, going from 0-100 faster than you can say "huh?") Riding will always remain a deep passion of mine, and I just might do that long haul trip i've always wanted with my 2 buddies up north. Very soon.
